"It's a shame that the people who are listening to you the most are only interested in you because they want you and your peers to buy their product."


I think this quote is for the most part accurate. Advertisers' jobs are to appeal to the consumers, and people are more likely to buy a product if they feel that there's some emotional connection. I wouldn't say it's a shame, though. They're just doing their jobs. They need to make it seem like they are really interested in you and what you have to say because, in the end, they want you to be interested in their product. Companies want to make money. If they seem like they understand where the consumer is coming from, then the consumer will feel more motivated to buy the product.
